Mac Stopa
MAC STOPA, IIDA, SARP,
is founder and chief architect and designer of Massive Design, an award-winning interior architectural design firm specializing in corporate interior planning and design. Massive Design’s clients include, among others, Coca-Cola, Google, Ericsson, GlaxoSmithKline, Allianz, IBM, Samsung, Unilever, Cargill, Mondelez (Kraft Foods), Mars, Deloitte, Credit Suisse, PwC, BMW, Pernod Ricard, Lloyd’s and Ernst & Young.
Mac Stopa is known for his modern, innovative and unconventional interiors that reflect and enhance a company’s corporate image as well as for designing interiors that are functional, comfortable and productive work environments, increasing a company’s appeal as “an employer of choice.” For the Żywiec Group (Heineken) project, Massive Design won the bronze medal for commercial interior design at the Bienal Miami + Beach competition in the USA.
In 2013, he designed the interiors for the newly-built Ghelamco Arena in Ghent, Belgium, which received a Best of Year Honoree Award 2013 in the public space category from New York-based Interior Design magazine. In 2014, the Ghelamco Arena project received the Interiors Award in the sports category from Contract magazine during the 35th Annual Interiors Awards Breakfast in New York.
Mac is also an industrial designer and graphic designer. His portfolio includes, among others, the Hexagon bench for Casamania that won an Interior Design Best of Year Honoree Award 2011; Fin, Wakame and Shell lamps for DuPont™ Corian®; the Penta sink that received an Interior Design Best of Year Honoree Award 2013 and Penta tiles that won a Must Have Award 2013, both part of the MyBath collection for DuPont™ Corian®/Acrea; Mesh 3D pattern on
upholstery for Dauphin; the Hexa seating system for Nowy Styl Group that won a Diamond Award 2013; and two chairs for Tonon: Step, winner of an Interior Design Best of Year Honoree Award 2013; and Structure, winner of a Red Dot Award 2013, an Interior Design Best of Year Award 2013 and a 2013 GOOD DESIGN™ Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design in the USA; as well as other furniture and product designs in the process of realization.
His portfolio also includes the FLOW installation in Samsung Staron® for the Interni Legacy 2012 exhibition during FuoriSalone. For Milan Design Week 2013, Mac designed the Interni Press Room as part of the Interni Hybrid Architecture & Design exhibition designing all Interni Press Room furniture and finishes, including the modular FLOW reception desk and Quadrazone modular table system in Staron®, the Bottoms Up shelving system, hybrid lighting, and the “Watch Your Step” 3D pattern for carpet, wall covering, and upholstery on Fatboys and custom designed
oversized Quad cushions, as well as chairs Step and Structure. Also for the Interni Hybrid exhibition, he designed the Parabola chair and table collection in i.design EFFIX® concrete by Italcementi Group/ Archiform, which won an Interior Design Best of Year Honoree Award 2013. Additionally, during FuoriSalone 2013, Mac exhibited a range of products in Staron® for the Samsung Chemical Europe showroom in Milan, which included the Odyssey table and
the Hybrid electric guitar in Staron®.
Mac graduated from the Cracow University of Technology’s School of Architecture and is a member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and the Polish Association of Architects (SARP). He is also an accomplished electric guitar player and music composer.
